Beijing- On the morning of March 26, 2017, Nepali Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal met with Mr. Yu XUE and his PHR (Pearl Humanitarian Rescue) team in Beijing Diaoyutai State Guest Hotel, accompanied by the Foreign Minister of Nepal Prakash Sharan Mahat. It was the PM’s only meeting with Chinese charity organization in China during his visit in Boao Forum for Asia annual conference to be held in China’s southern Hainan province.

The prime minister thanked PHR for its medical emergency assistance to the quake victims after a devastating earthquake hit Nepal in 2015. He listened carefully to Mr. XUE’s introduction of PHR’s long-term project in Nepal. He also thanked Chinese government and non-government institutions for their assistance to Nepal’s socio-economic development and post-quake reconstruction. At the same time, the prime minister highly appreciated PHR’s positive contribution to the international charity platform.

A Richter magnitude 8.1 earthquake stroke Nepal at 14:11pm on April 25, 2015, causing more than 8,000 deaths and 22,000 injuries. PHR immediately assembled a team of over 20 people rushed to Kathmandu, including professional medical rescue workers and local volunteers. The team brought with them emergency rescue and telecommunication equipment, and large amounts of first-aid goods and materials worth about 500,000 yuan and medicine worth 1.2 million yuan to carry out comprehensive emergency rescue there. During the rescue, the team provided an accumulated 1,450 hours’ emergency medical service, directly treating more than 500 people and aiding 8,500 more. PHR was not only the first but also the mere medical rescue team to arrive in the hardest hit area, Bhaktapur. PHR received unanimous acclaims from local residents for the emergency humanitarian assistance it provided. Rushing to the rescue in Nepal was actually a debut of the newly founded PHR.

As a non-governmental and non-profit organization founded by a number of young Chinese entrepreneurs and doctors, PHR participates actively in global humanitarian assistance program with international humanitarian spirit. Working closely with the Chinese companies in remote and undeveloped areas all over the world, PHR explores the way of social responsibility in advancement for China’s Belt and Road initiative
